MB Closet (Photo)

Alright, by popular request, I went and took a photo. There's really not much to see, but here ya go.

It's basically just the painted version of this previous photo:

For the curious, the clear boxes have some of my shoes (leather dress shoes mainly), and the woven baskets are currently empty. The clothes in there now are just my "day to day" stuff (mainly work clothes and a few nice weekend shirts). The rest of it is still hanging in the basement (about 3x more than this).

  1. I am dying over your beautiful white woodwork! We have SO MUCH oak woodwork in our house that my husband refuses to let me paint so I am completely envious of yours!

I'm very impressed with all your work!
Can you tell me what the paint color is...I love it too. :)

  2. Oh Sarah, PLEASE don't paint your woodwork. I'd happily trade my painted moulding with yours if I could. Mine was painted by POs years ago, and it's caked in many layers. It used to be beautiful dark orange Ash (very similar to oak).

I'd just suggest using a lot of white accents like white linens, curtains, and pillows.

The blue-grey paint colour has already had it's very own post a while back. I went into the whole thing in detail. It's a colour match of a colour match, so you really need the actual recipe if you want to try a sample of it. I used Behr paint & primer in one, in a satin (because I prefer a little bit of gloss). 3. That lower piece of moulding above the door forms a sort of entablature that is very classic. It's amazing what a difference one little bit of detail makes!

    1. For future reference only: they usually refer to this portion of an architrave casing as a "parting bead". I've seen variations where this "bead" is actually a small fancy moulding (like a small roman ogee). Like the ones used in this particular house:

    2. Hi again, JC - I wasn't able to reach that url, but I appreciate having the correct terminology. You can be sure I'll use it in the future! :o)

    3. Just copy/past the URL (this blog won't allow me to have an active link or a photo in a comment for whatever reason).

    4. I've also seen it called a "fillet". :)

  4. Hi JC,
Correct, it is pronounced Ann-yes. Hey, where's your tux? And are these Phentex covered hangers I see? Love it.

    1. There is a tux in there (last item). And you have a good eye, those are indeed Phentex (or some kind of material) wrapped metal coat hangers. I don't even remember where I got them. I have a large assortment of miscellaneous coat hangers. When I do need new ones, I tend to buy plain white plastic ones, though, but I'd actually prefer to have nice wooden ones, but they're too pricey.
